But you have done it with humor, grit, honesty, and style. Love the relationship you have with your horse--it certainly has it's ups and downs, underpinned by trust and love (and a good seat). Thank you for taking the time to so effectively share your ride. And congratulations to the both of you!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07082646521275674339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773599297895528113.post-82189369819928489782014-02-26T18:02:38.332-08:002014-02-26T18:02:38.332-08:00WHOOP! You two are such a perfect team and I love you even though I've never met you. CONGRATULATIONS on your finish, and thank you for this most excellent write up. I laughed, I cried, I cheered.

I hope to do 100 some day. I did the Moonlight in Vermont, riding my first 50 with Rayzer. Our all-day buddy got pulled at the hold at sunset, and I remember gulping loudly as I tried to convince the mare that we really could trot off into the dark, glowstick-lit forest alone. Your description of the night riding magic... and fear... was so perfect, and really hit home with me.

Congrats. You inspire me.Domhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00139769676714813261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773599297895528113.post-5338772755087596632014-02-26T09:52:10.643-08:002014-02-26T09:52:10.643-08:00I can't even begin to put into words what I fe...I can't even begin to put into words what I felt reading this post. Obv knew you'd completed thanks to FB, but had been really looking forward to reading about the whole experience. So, so, so happy for you and Dixie!!!!

Read it while at work last night during a rare moment when it was quiet and had this huge grin plastered on my face the entire time. I got a lot of weird looks from the vets and other techs, especially when I laughed out loud at your 420 RR marker...Charles stayed at a hotel in NY once where his room was #420. He still has the photo of the room door somewhere.

I forwarded this post to the people in my life that are curious about endurance but think I'm crazy for even thinking about trying it, with the note, "This is exactly why I want to try it!" Because of what it does for the relationship with your horse. Because of the people and friends you meet along the way. Because of the adventure itself.

I think this is the best post in all Blogland. :) My favorite part was your description of riding at night. You totally captured the ethereal unreality that accompanies most outdoor endeavors done in the dark, that can either thrill or frighten depending on the mindset. I loved your point of view, the descriptions of the stars coming out, the shooting stars, the light of the glowsticks in the dark. It really felt like we were riding along with you and Dixie.

I haven't even done an LD yet and I was already texting Liz after reading your post: "We should TOTALLY do a 100 one day."

Congrats again on achieving this huge milestone with your girl. And thank you for sharing your journey with us!!

Nicole Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09817619834026667737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773599297895528113.post-14832787723473015552014-02-26T09:50:02.215-08:002014-02-26T09:50:02.215-08:00Congrats!
