When I was 14, I was asked what I would want as my epitaph. The best I could come up with, after a few minutes of serious thought, was "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Twenty years later, that's still the best I can explain about why I do anything.

One more Christmas story and I'll move on
I love reading about Detroit. Not the suburbs, which appear to be (dys)functioning as well as any other suburbs, but the actual City of Detroit. It's in such bad shape, according to all the metrics, but there are still decent people there. Crooks and thieves, and no jobs, but there are still normal people living their normal lives. And some exceptional people, like Santa.

This is very cool! We could use a few more like him that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but I'm going to be a bit sad to move on from Christmas this year.
Me too, MiKael. :-/
ReplyDeleteThat is a neat story. What a heart that guy has.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story. I can't imagine driving along and seeing the "sleigh" going down the road!!
ReplyDeleteBEC - Yep :)
ReplyDeleteMelissa - that's cause you wouldn't be driving in Detroit in December. You'd be staring out your hotel window, waiting for the snow to melt, like a good Southerner! ;)
As a native Detroit girl I am glad to see that maybe it's not a completely utterly horrible disaster all the time in Detroit. But I was there for Thanksgiving, and man.... it is sad.
ReplyDeleteHeart warming tale. Thanks for that. have a Happy New Year!!
