Everybody, pat yourself on the back and let out a big sigh of relief. It's finally here! The longest night of 2010 is coming (or already upon you, depending on where you are.) This is the Best Day of the Year - it only gets better from here.
Oh, and I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times today, but don't forget about the eclipse, too. Should be a good one.
Happy Solstice!
Uhh?
ReplyDeleteIt's the winter solstice, silly! The nights only get shorter from now til July.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow in the Swampland: the sun will rise at 7:55am, and set at 4:20. Day after that, we get an extra minute because the sun goes down at 4:21.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't think I won't be out there to enjoy it, either!
I am sooooo looking forward to the winter solstice. It gives me hope that I WILL Survive winter every year!
ReplyDeleteThis IS my favorite day of the year! Even though we only get an extra minute or two now by the time June rolls around the daylight gain is over 5 minutes per day.
ReplyDeleteThen it's my least favorite day but technically the sun doesn't set that day. It just gets dusky between 1 am and 3 am.
Hooray hooray hooray! It's only going to get lighter out in the evenings from now on. I hate having to fight the feeling it's time to go to bed at 3 pm, and no way should I keep my horse awake. ;)
ReplyDeletePerhaps there isn't any daylight up north in Scotland where Cheyenne lives? It's pretty near to the Arctic circle.
ReplyDeleteFurther south the ennui has been building. Now I have an excuse to drive it away. The days of darkness are numbered!
