When I was 14, I was asked what I would want as my epitaph. The best I could come up with, after a few minutes of serious thought, was "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Twenty years later, that's still the best I can explain about why I do anything.

The comments thing
I turned on comment moderation because I am apparently enough of an internet celebrity to attract the attention of internet casinos and incomprehensible Russian comment spammers. To make up for it I turned off the word verification. :) Now, if I can only figure out how to publish comments from my phone, we'll be set.

I am glad to be one of the visitors on this outstanding site (:, thanks for putting up.
ReplyDeleteAhahaha, whoever wrote this: you're a funny guy -or- you're an incomprehensible foreign spammer. Either way I am well amused.
ReplyDeleteYeah! I must be famous too! Had a s**t load of crap hit my blog today! (wonder if its a conspiracy?) Still its not needed.
ReplyDeleteI like the comment moderation, not so much for the spammers - although it helps with that - but because it tells me when there are comments so I read them and also lets me see when there are new comments on older posts.
ReplyDeleteI turned on comment moderation for the exact same reason. The spam comments were getting out of control and I was sick of it!
ReplyDeleteso far i've had no need to moderate because my blog is not "searchable". it's a little inconvenient cuz i cannot search my own site. i try my best to keep it private.
ReplyDeleteChey - lol!
ReplyDeleteKate, I get email notification of all my comments. You probably have enough traffic for moderation to be worthwhile - same with Melissa.
Lytha, I decided long ago on that if people want to read my totally random adventures, well, ok. And if I ever get a stalker/hordes of Fugly minions, I'm emotionally ready to delete the whole thing and walk away. (for a while, anyway!)
I joined a couple of blogging sites, and this started happening to me. I put it to moderation...which worked, but was a PAIN.
ReplyDeleteWhat's working fine for me right now is to turn on the word verification. Not a spam has leaked through their filters since :)
Oh, and:
am seeing some information helpful. i enjoy exactly how you receive your level throughout.
I had some spam make it through word verification so I use the comment moderation too. How the spammers got through the word verification is beyond me, but it was definitely spam. You know, with comments like your first one here. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI was just telling Gail of At the Farm that I have moderation on for that reason and she said something about how well she was doing without it. I figured it wouldn't be long for her to find out.
ReplyDeleteThose stinking spammers now have software that lets them hit multiple blogs at one time. There's no way we have a chance against that kind of technology so I'll be sticking with comment moderation too.
I'm tired of some land-for-sale junk they put in my comments.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say "hi" and "hope you had a great weekend!"
ReplyDeleteI wish I had casino spammers...instead I get Thai Escorts..WTH?
