Crazy wind from Funder on Vimeo.
The power keeps flickering, because trucks are blowing over onto power lines and the lines themselves are just blowing down. It's 50 and sunny, at least - it's quite nice. Aside from the whole house shaking and the wind howling and doors being impossible to open and close! Also, I've got to put the trash bin out tonight, but the damn thing keeps blowing over and skidding around out there. Maybe I'll wake up really early and run it out.
It'll stay warm and windy tonight, then tomorrow it'll be slightly less windy and turn colder and start to snow. 3-6" possible up here. It'll be a baby blizzard! It'll stay cold and gross for the forecastable future. I probably need another cord of wood.
The wind is crazy here right now too. I guess it's typical for winter but the gusts seem to be much stronger than usual. It can be a bit unnerving.
ReplyDeleteThere's no point in putting the trash out if it's only going to be spread all over the road. I hope it stops blowing so you can get that done. I don't know about your, but just another reason I am ready for winter to be gone.
MiKael - oh, it gets this windy in the summer too. This place is a trip! I am not looking forward to tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteStory - ok, we don't get gusts quite that high. Gets up to 100+ on the mountain ridges, but nobody is up there. I am very glad we insisted on a new roof on the windy south side of the house - the old one would've already left the county.
SRF is in a wind tunnel. We get days like this. So not jealous.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say - I am SO glad I have that slow feeder. Most horses out here just eat the hay out of the corner of the fence where it blew and stuck. Poor things.
ReplyDeleteYeah that wind came thru here twice this last weekend. And Saturdays episode was the end of my barn-tarp! (blog post coming soon). We use a bungee across the top of the can, but this wind would probably blow it bouncing done the road, so it would still be a lost cause.
ReplyDeleteIt was super windy here last week - not fun and I don't envy you at all! Fingers crossed that everything holds together...
ReplyDelete13 inches expected here, the wind is so bad i can hardly stand outside without being blown across the ice
ReplyDeleteIt's just no fun to complain about the weather when Zach's around. :P Seriously - I know you're so glad the horses are down in the valley!
ReplyDeleteOh and ES - I bungee the lid down during the week, but the WM guys get super furious if I don't take the cord off when I wheel it to the road. Buncha whiny babies.
ReplyDeleteWe're on the high plains, so you know I know what you're talking about with the winds...
ReplyDeleteYikes... your wind must be siphoning itself all the way ti Washington state because we've had crazy wind here for the past two days, too!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of growing up in OKC... the wind was kinda like Chinese water torture. It never stopped. Crazy. But warmish, which was nice in winter.
ReplyDeleteRon
It's headed this way tomorrow afternoon and that will be the end our nice weather. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm just praying that this spring isn't anything like last spring out here. No one can remember the wind blowing like that before.
I get lots of wind where I live too. And MUD!!
ReplyDeleteThat blowing barn door reminds me of the old westerns, especially if you had filmed it in black and white.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it doesn't blow that bad where I live, it does where I stable my horse. It's at teh base of a canyon that acts like a giant wind tunnel. It's gotten so bad that the letail roofs on several stalls have actually blown off. Defintely scary at times although my horse isn't too impressed. :-)
We had some crazy winds on Sunday and Monday but it seems to have passed... it was nothing like your winds though! We were getting 40 mph gusts and I thought that was bad!
ReplyDeleteDon't get blown away!
Ugh. that's my worst weather. i'll take anything else but the wind! well, maybe not lightning either.
