We survived!

Everybody, pat yourself on the back and let out a big sigh of relief. It's finally here! The longest night of 2010 is coming (or already upon you, depending on where you are.) This is the Best Day of the Year - it only gets better from here.

Oh, and I'm sure you've heard it a thousand times today, but don't forget about the eclipse, too. Should be a good one.

Happy Solstice!

  1. It's the winter solstice, silly! The nights only get shorter from now til July.

  2. Tomorrow in the Swampland: the sun will rise at 7:55am, and set at 4:20. Day after that, we get an extra minute because the sun goes down at 4:21.

And don't think I won't be out there to enjoy it, either!

  4. This IS my favorite day of the year! Even though we only get an extra minute or two now by the time June rolls around the daylight gain is over 5 minutes per day.

Then it's my least favorite day but technically the sun doesn't set that day. It just gets dusky between 1 am and 3 am.

  5. Hooray hooray hooray! It's only going to get lighter out in the evenings from now on. I hate having to fight the feeling it's time to go to bed at 3 pm, and no way should I keep my horse awake. ;)

  6. Perhaps there isn't any daylight up north in Scotland where Cheyenne lives? It's pretty near to the Arctic circle.

Further south the ennui has been building. Now I have an excuse to drive it away. The days of darkness are numbered!
