I trimmed Dixie's bridle path right before Comstock, in early October. I decided I wouldn't cut it again til Rides of March. Now, five months later, I have photographic evidence of her freaky ability to grow hair.
Average of 7 inches, freakish max of 9 1/2. This chunk came from the middle of the bridle path - that 9.5" was not from her forelock.
We have been diligently working on our trot-out whenever it's not excessively windy, rainy, or snowing, and she's really getting pretty good! Of course she won't jog - it's either a too-slow running walk or the kind of trot where I have to RUN to keep up, but I'll take it :)
Today I realized the steps aren't attached to the broken hot tub. I have a mounting block! They're wood, so they're not as light as a nice plastic block, but they're not hard to carry around.
I want to see a picture of the new mounting block!!

ReplyDeleteLove the moveable mounting block! Any mounting block that is not me being squeezed between a pipe fence and my horse, (backwards climbing the fence) is a terrific mounting block! Use an old stump all the time.

ReplyDeleteGoodness, that is a lot of hair in a short time. Rose's tail which was chewed way short by the baby is taking forever just to not look like a rooster tail. *sigh* No fast growing hair here.
ReplyDeleteShe should donate that hair to those less fortunate... like poor little Reddums, who has a great mane and tail, but has somehow become a victim of male pattern balding (i.e. no forelock).

ReplyDeletew00t! On both fronts! I wish my Molly could grow hair like that. It's bad enough she ripped out large sections of her mane this fall and winter. And her quarter horse tail looks all scrubby like an Appy's. It just won't grown!

Maybe this ability is linked to the moon? Is she hairier when the moon is full?
