They're on the road!

The nice fellow from Triple H met us at the truck stop and my brave horses are headed to Ohio. They looked pretty weirded out about the whole thing, but I'm quite sure I'm projecting. I have been a nervous wreck all day and I am only slightly less nervous now.

Headed to Ohio!

Off to say goodbye to my parents, then finish cleaning. Tomorrow we pack and drive!

  1. Omigoodness moving is so stressful and exciting!! I usually move WITH my horse because I'm so neurotic that I can't even stand for anyone else to drive her (this applies on long hauls anywhere... I CAN'T stop and let people drive while I rest, I HAVE to be the one driving!) so I imagine this has got to be less ulcer-inducing. Good luck with the move!

  2. Your horses will be fine - they'll go into the 'zone' of road trip and just dream the miles away. Good luck tomorrow!

  4. Thank you guys!

Andrea - I think I would be even more freaked out doing it myself. I spent two months - the whole time we were "possibly going to move back to OH - going back and forth in my head between hiring shippers and hauling them myself. Shippers are a reimbursable moving expense, plus I won't go insane wondering if my transmission's about to explode or the trailer's going to blow a tire or my poor darlings are just going to fall down and die in the trailer. The lady I talked to was really nice and reassuring, and her husband, the actual trucker, made me feel pretty confident too. He's just a nice middle aged Oklahoma cowboy, been haulin' horses for about 29 years now, handles them pretty well, looks like he'll watch out for them.

I'm sure I looked like an idiot as I kept telling Champ I'd see him in two days. He knows a lot of English but I don't think he understood that. He'll figure it out Thursday when he sees me!

  5. I LOVE that picture, Funder. They totally look like they are off on an adventure, Champ with his mule nose and all. Good luck with the rest of your preparations and your drive!

  6. At least they are shipping together! That must make the trip easier for them :)

  7. I can't look at that picture without "on the road again" playing in my head. Great shot.

Here's hoping that everything concerning the move is uneventful and terribly boring!
